City Closes $160 Million Deal for Last Piece of Bushwick Inlet Park

On April 19, the city signed off on and completed the $160 million transaction to buy the last piece of property needed to complete the 27-acre waterfront park. North Brooklyn was promised the park during the 2005 waterfront rezoning, which allowed for the development of high density, high rise residential properties along the waterfront. After years of public pressure from community advocates and local politicians, and after months of backroom negotiations, the city finally reached a verbal deal with the developer in November 2016.
