Cooper Park Has Some Very Good Friends!

Our newest partner Friends of Cooper Park held its inaugural meeting on November 13. Park advocates identified key short- and long-term goals like keeping the park cleaner and bringing back a farmers market. St. Nicks Alliance hosted the meeting while Partnerships for Parks and OSA staff facilitated.

With discussions of potential new developments at the former Greenpoint Hospital and Cooper Park Houses, Cooper Park could be serving many more people in the near future. Friends of Cooper Park will be an important voice in advocating for usable and well-maintained green space and sustainable growth in the neighborhood.

The group plans to build a website, organize more events like the recent bulb planting, apply for grants, advocate for more financial resources, and much more. Stay tuned for information on the next meeting in January. In the meantime, please join its Facebook group.
