First of all, as of Thursday we are excited to now be called the North Brooklyn Parks Alliance, or NBPA, and we hope that you are as stoked about this shift as we are. Advocating for green spaces in North Brooklyn is at the core of what we do, and this rebranding truly allows us to showcase this.
Last Thursday the North Brooklyn Parks Alliance hosted our 7th Annual Party for the Parks and over 350 people joined us in celebrating North Brooklyn park advocacy. With the generous support from our donors combined with the unyielding commitment from our community members the NBPA raised over $160,000 for both the parks and people of Williamsburg and Greenpoint. It was a beautiful autumn evening fun filled evening with dancing, drinks and great food at the Wythe Hotel, and was certainly a party for the books.
Once again we would like to extend our congratulations to our honorees that were recognized at the party. We were proud to honor Council Member Antonio Reynoso for his commitment to improving and expanding open spaces. We are grateful for his outstanding environmental justice leadership for all New Yorkers, including the recent enactment of the Waste Equity Law. We were also delighted to celebrate Jed Walentas and Two Trees for the completion of Domino Park, a new standard for open space and urban design.
Lastly, thank you to everyone who believes in our mission and supports our dream. Our advocacy is only as strong as our communities, and the 7th Annual Party for the Parks certainly proved that, together, we have the power to truly advocate for our parks.
