Donor Privacy Policy

North Brooklyn Parks Alliance is committed to safeguarding the privacy of our donors. We want you to feel confident and comfortable sharing sensitive information with us.

WHAT WE WON’T DO

  • North Brooklyn Parks Alliance will NEVER sell, rent, trade, or transfer your personal information to outside organizations. Use of donor information will be limited to the internal purposes of North Brooklyn Parks Alliance and only to further our mission.
  • North Brooklyn Parks Alliance will not send donors mailings or solicitations on behalf of other organizations.
  • North Brooklyn Parks Alliance does not sell, distribute, or transfer personally identifiable information obtained online or offline from you to a third-party organization. The only exception to this is when it is necessary to share certain information for processing online donations.

WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT

  • Personal information: name, organization/company, mailing address, billing address, phone number, email address, and/or other personal information provided by the donor such as donor requests, comments, and/or engagement with North Brooklyn Parks Alliance.
  • Donation information: amounts donated, date of donation(s), method and stimulus such as the event, marketing campaign, and/or another occasion that was the reason for the gift
  • Payment method and information: Check number, wire number, transaction date. Credit card numbers used to process donations are not retained. Scans of deposited checks and accompanying documentation are retained for audit purposes
  • Non-personally identifiable information, such as how many hits each North Brooklyn Parks Alliance website page receives, and if the visitor is repeat or new. This requires that a ‘cookie’ be sent to your web browser. See our TERMS OF USE page for additional information.

CREDIT CARD DONATIONS

  • North Brooklyn Parks Alliance processes credit card donations through our website and/or mobile forms using third-party merchants that are PCI compliant. When you submit a donation, we receive a notification of the donation amount, payment method, and the contact information you provide.
  • Credit card numbers are NOT retained once processed, and we do not have access to credit card information submitted via the payment processing form.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

  • North Brooklyn Parks Alliance uses your data to maintain records of donations, send acknowledgments, mail your year-end tax statements, send newsletters, notices and direct mail pieces, and for internal marketing purposes.
  • We automatically add donors to our mailing list and notify them of opportunities for future donations. Donors may unsubscribe at any time, or request to be excluded from this mailing list. Send an email to info@nbkparks.org with the subject line; Remove me from your Mailing List.
  • Our third-party mailing service is contractually obligated to treat the lists with confidentiality and is prohibited from transferring them elsewhere. Our primary mailing service vendor is listed below with a link to their respective privacy policies: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

DONOR ACKNOWLEDGMENT

  • We often publish and publicize the names of our donors. If you would prefer not to be recognized, or that your gift remains anonymous, there are several ways your wishes can be respected.
  • For online donations; Please select the box “Donor Anonymity”
  • For mail-in donations; Please write “Donor Anonymity” in the memo line
  • If retrospectively you decide you’d like your name to be removed from current or future web or print displays; Please email us at info@nbkparks.org with the subject line “Donor Anonymity”
  • All donations of $1,000.00 USD and up are recorded in our annual report. Donors are recognized by giving tier only with the gift amount not disclosed.
  • Donors may request to be recognized as “Anonymous” and/or forego public recognition. Donations over 2% of our entire budget must be reported on IRS Form 990, Schedule B.
