Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park Seminar Series

Following Mayor de Blasio’s announcement of funding for two new stages of development at Bushwick Inlet Park (BIP), NYC Parks is planning hearings in 2018 to set the future of the 50 Kent Ave and Motiva parcels at BIP. To help plan for that, FBIP presented a series of community seminars on the history of BIP’s planning and current trends in park, waterfront and open space design.

The first seminar on January 23rd revisited the 2005 Greenpoint Williamsburg Waterfront Open Space Master Plan presented by Donna Walcavage, the principal landscape architect from Stantec. On March 4th, Susannah Drake from DLANDstudios presented on New Parks and the Public Realm: Community Agency, Neighborhood Sustainability and Environmental Justice. The third seminar on April 9th was presented by Gena Wirth, the Design Principal at SCAPE, and explored Thinking in Designing for the Public Realm, Sustainability and Resilience.
