Located directly under the Kosciuszko Bridge and called “Under the K Bridge Park,” the new park converts a formerly abandoned site into a vibrant seven-acre open space that invites the public to a little-known waterfront of Newtown Creek.

The space, designed by Toronto- based landscape architecture firm PUBLIC WORK, features expansive multi-purpose sections for recreation, culture, and woodland areas where more than 20,000 trees and native plant species now grow.

Under the soaring Kosciuszko Bridge columns, our “El-space” grows from 40 feet to as much as 100 feet in height. Distinguishing itself with massive industrial “rooms” connected by a continuous beam of light that runs the park’s length, creating what we call a “solar slice.”.

Transmitter Park is just 6.61-acres but has a fascinating story. Located in the northern part of Greenpoint on the river’s edge, Transmitter Park is a natural inlet that was once the hunting ground of the Native Americans and home to NYC public radio station, WNYC. Open as new parkland in 2012 as part of the area’s rezoning; this location boasts some unbelievable views of Manhattan’s skyline that can be enjoyed from its large open lawn or viewing piers.

Msgr. McGolrick Park low-key, dog-friendly, and filled with a rich canopy of older trees. Land for this nine-plus acre park was secured in 1889 by Assemblyman Winthrop Jones, whom the park was originally named after. It has a historic central pavilion that dates back to 1910 and nearby monuments that pay tribute to local World War I heroes and the USS Monitor. Winthrop Park became Msgr. McGolrick Park in 1941.

McCarren Park sits squarely on the border of Greenpoint and Williamsburg. Originally referred to as Greenpoint Park, the 35 acres of bustling activity was renamed McCarren Park in 1909 after a local politician secured funding to modernize the facility. Complete with baseball and soccer fields, courts for handball, basketball, tennis, a fitness facility, a skatepark, grills, a playground, and a New Deal Era swimming pool. Perhaps you all recall the pool is were our organization co-hosted the famed Pool Party Concerts from 2006-2008.

Bushwick Inlet Park, when complete, will be the centerpiece of the Greenpoint – Williamsburg waterfront. A product of a long-fought community battle for open space and access to the waterfront, this eventual 27-acre park sits at the mouth of Bushwick Creek and possesses some of the most stunning views along the East River.

Cooper Park in East Williamsburg is located on the site of an old glue factory sold to the city from 1895 by the descents of philanthropist, industrialist, and inventor Peter Cooper. This 6.4-acre park underwent a 2.6 million dollar renovation of which our organization pitched in some funds in 2012 to include and update the basketball, handball, volleyball and tennis courts, a concrete skate park, playground, spacious dog park, bbq pits, and a quarter-mile jogging pathway.
