With a new website comes a new blog, and NBK Parks is looking for volunteer guest writers with an academic interest in local history, New York City parks & public space, environmental justice, urban planning, and civic engagement to create original content aimed at inspiring and informing a community. Please include links to a minimum of three writing samples.
Survey Volunteers are the backbone of our organization’s community & research efforts. They help us gather the public’s feedback by conducting surveys and interviews as well as document the state of public facilities and spaces for maintenance, planning, and policy purposes. No previous survey experience is necessary, as training will be provided, but individuals interested in this role should be comfortable working outside, on their feet and have the ability to successfully interact with the public. Photography skills are a plus.
These volunteers work under the supervision of both the Executive Director and Development & Communications Manager, performing research and scholarly duties on topics such as environmental justice, urban planning, public space & cultural diversity, local history, organization history, and grant & fundraising opportunities.

The Digital Projects Intern role is a researcher, storyteller, and project manager all in one. This role would be an apprenticeship under the Development & Communications Director. The purpose of the role is to bring more brand awareness to our organization and the nearly twenty years of service we’ve committed to North Brooklyn. Using an arsenal of media types interns are asked to identify, curate, and market digital stories. Please include links to your portfolio or work examples.
Graphic Design seeks an intern who is currently attending college or graduate school for Graphic Design. The candidate will assist the Development & Communications Director with layout and production of digital and print projects. Knowledge of Adobe’s Creative Suite is required and illustration skills are a plus. Candidates should have good communication, organization, and computer skills.
